Kostroma veterans of the SVO participate in the "Fatherland Defenders Cup" competition

The Kostroma Foundation "Defenders of the Fatherland" reports that our regional team is taking part in the Interregional Tournament for the "Defenders of the Fatherland Cup", which is currently taking place in the Tula Region.

Up to 300 veteran athletes of the SVO from 18 regions of the Central Federal District came to the competition, which opened on June 2. The Kostroma Region is represented at the tournament by a team of four people: Sergey Simchenko, Maksim Sazonov, Maksim Zubkov and coach Sergey Naduzev.

During the 4 days of competition (until June 6), SVO veterans will compete in target shooting, table tennis, powerlifting, archery and knife throwing. In addition, for the first time in history, the tournament will feature competitions in disciplines for disabled athletes - powerlifting, table tennis and wheelchair volleyball. At the opening of the competition, the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Mikhail Degtyarev noted that for SVO veterans, this tournament gives the opportunity to discover sports as a means of rehabilitation and to begin a new stage in life by finding new comrades and a goal in life.
